What More Can a Girl Ask For?

It's Friday, the sun is shining and I have this super cute maxi convertible dress on. What makes it even better is I got this for less than $15 from one Kohl's .  I love the fact that you wear it as a maxi dress , maxi skirt and even as a midi dress that is seriously getting more bang for your $15 and you ladies know how I love to be fashionable on a dime.  I chose to wear this with my Lauren Conrad jean vest for a casual Friday look. This dress can easily be accessorised for a night out on the town or just plain and simple with a tank top for easy breezy weekend look. I am so pleased with this that I really am thinking about ordering this in a different color. This piece will definitely be going on vacation with me. What are you ladies wearing on casual Friday? Was it a deal or a splurge.. Inquiring minds want to know .

Weekend Fun

There are some weekends where you just want to stay in the house and get caught up on your rest and get alot done.. Well this was not one of those weekends. It was good weekend to get caught up with old friends and let me hair down a little. We all need that sometimes. It seems like as woman our natural instinct is to be care taker and forget about our own personal needs. So it was great to have a few cocktails and many laughs . I was so fortunate to reconnect with an old friend and catch up. After all lots of laughs and few cocktails is what keeps you young according to my 91 year old Grandmother.
I have 2 looks that I wanted to highlight from the past weekend.  The first is a daytime look that I wore when I went to an open house. Now this dress was a Saturday special from Old Navy. Now when I got the email the previous night and it was like $10 dresses one day only.. Honey that is all they had to say. I decided to wear this with a jean vest to go for more casual look but I can totally see dressing this baby up for a night out on the town. Now 2 looks for $10 how can you beat that?
My 2nd look was for my girls night out. I wanted to go for sexy but tasteful . As I get closer to 42 I can totally see my style evolving and I actually feel better than I did back in 20's believe it or not. I had this dress that I got from Kohl's last year in the back of my closet.  My fashionista in training ( my 16yr old daughter) lol actually picked the shoes to go with this.. and she did well. I opted for this glamorous long gold chain I got from Clothes Mentor Fort Wayne for ony $5.  I felt cool and comfortable in this outfit.  This was a perfect for a night full of dancing and laughing.
What was your weekend like my fab fashionista's ? Would love to know what you were wearing ?

Curlybyrdie's Father's Day Gifts and Tips

Why was I thinking that Father's day was not until next weekend?  What was I thinking? So here I am once again saying that I was not going anywhere near the mall or dept stores this weekend. Now if you are in same boat I am I wanted to try to give you a little assistance. Now my Dad is fairly easy to shop for I typically get get him clothes because he doesn't really shop for himself that often. I can remember a time with my Dad was sharp all the time. Those were back in the days when "Papa was a rolling stone" but now in his older age he relies on his girls to keep him dressed. Listed below are places with great "Father's Day Sales"

Kohl's - has some awesome savings this weekend . We all love stackable coupons there is a coupon for 10 off 30   when you purchase Men's clothes, accessories and luggage (coupon code DAD's Day) and you can use this with 20% off coupon for stackable savings ... How sweet is that!

Jcpenney - is has there 10 off 25 coupon  is going on right now. That makes for great deals. Also if you spend $50 you eligible for free Event ticket see details (here). I am huge fan of Jcpenney for my Dad because I like the selection in the Big and Tall section and my Daddy is a big guy.

Macy's - is having and Huge Sale ..They have Doorbuster deals dress shirts for $12.99 , t shirts 4 for 20 and the clearance is buy 1 get 2 free !  On top of all that there are 2 savings passes 20 off 50 and 10 off 25 With those deals the Dad's in you life with me one well dressed man and you pocketbook will be as well.

Frugal Fashionista

There is no secret that I have a real  passion for fashion but my pocket book requires me to be on a serious budget. That is why I have found a love for thrifting. I can remember my Mom going to the Goodwill because we didnt' have alot money wise although we were rich in so many other ways. My Mom was a single mom of 4 and I can honestly say I never felt deprived .. she made it work always. Now me in my 40's have started to find a love for thrifting. I have found one of favorite places to shop is the Clothes Mentor Fort Wayne. What I love about this place is I never know what I am going to run across. The red sleeveless sweater with the ruffle on it was brand new it even had the Steinmart tags still on it. The tag had  $30 on it and I was able to score it for $7. So many styling possibilities and I just love the uniqueness of it. I decided to pair it with my striped black and cream flared skirt and my Lauren Conrad oxford shoes went perfectly. They carry all these brand name items at such awesome prices. You should definitely give Clothes Mentor a try because it doesn't require a lot of money to be fabulous.

I received an email from another Frugal Fashionisa who happens to be my cousin on to brag about her recent finds.  Now she found her deals at Macy's and all I can say this love for deals definitely run in the family . She was able to get this blue top for $12 and the Supercute skort  for $25 all by Karen Scott. Now the real deal is those  cute deck shoes she got absolutely free with $40 rewards from DSW.. Now that is a true Frugal Fashionista! Way to go Cuz! If have some awesome deals that you want to brag about than inbox me your pic and all the details and I will feature you on my blog.. Email me at curlybyrdie@my.com .

My Latest Curl Cocktail

Now I know I am usually chirping about my latest and greatest fashion finds but today I am changing it up . If you are a Curly girl than u understand how tough it is finding that perfect mixture . It is hit and miss than you find what think it is the best combo for your curly mane and than your curls stop responding ...Honey those Curl's ain't loyal...ok I just went there....lol.  This is the routine I am currently using. I start by co washing my hair with Organix Coconut milk conditioner and than than add about a half dollar size back in my hair  and comb through with a wide tooth comb. I than add Kinky Curly Knot today as my leave in I rake this in with my fingers and last but not least I apply Cantu Define and Shine curl custard. After I distribute the product evenly. I part my hair and than start taking little sections of hair snd twisting . If my hair is dry than I will add coconut oil on the ends.  Now I let it air dry for a couple of hours and than sit under thfe hair dryer for about 30 mins. If I am going to bed I will pineapple it and put a bonnet on . When I get up in the morning I will sit under the dryer for 30 mins to speed the drying process up . Because my hair is crazy thick I will keep the twists in for a couple more hours.

Last step is taking the twists down . As I'm unraveling the twist I may add a little bit of coconut oil then I fluff out curls and out the door this girl has buisness.  What products are you curly girls loving  right now ? I hope you ladies and gentlemen have a perfect curl week .
