Indian Summer

I can remember growing up and we would get this super warm days in fall and my Mom would always say this is our Indian Summer.  What I love most about this time of the year in the Midwest is watching the leaves turn colors it's my absolute favorite color pallet.  As much as I love the crisp fall weather there is something about those last days of warm weather. It makes you want to pull out those summer duds one last time. Yea I just said duds.. I am telling my age again.  Now with it getting up to 80 this weekend decided to wear dresses I had in my closet and add a jacket or a vest to give it a little fallish feel..  The first dress is this dress I scored from +Macy's  for like $7.50..I loved the colors in this dress. The deep burgundy and deep maize color is so fall and a wonderful way to transition to the fall. I decided add my Steve Madden shooties and jean jacket for a casual cool Saturday look.  Than on Sunday I went with my dress from +JCPenney that was a perfect match for this Guess Necklace that I scored at Macy's sometime ago and never got the chance to wear and than topped it off with my Lauren Conrad jean vest from +Kohl's and another transition look was born. How are you fashionista's transitioning? Do you have any tip and tricks that you using? Please share . Have an awesome week we are blessed with another fresh start let's make the most of it.

School Girl Monday

After a wonderful weekend with family we are back at this thing called Monday.  I think the cooler weather even makes getting up for work Monday even harder . I felt like just getting a hot cup of coffee and just sitting in the bed for a few hours. No such luck..
In honor of spending great quality time with family I thought I would wear this dress that my Mom got me last year for Christmas. If you know my mom this is a dress that she would pick out . It is so classic kind of June Cleaver but I love it and I had to give it my own little flavor so today's look is a little of me and a little of her.  I thought it worked out nicely. I hope you fashionista's are having a fabulous Monday.  What look are you starting your week with ?

Jumping Into the Weekend!

Can you tell by the title of this post that I am ready for the weekend?  It has been a long week full of running around and getting stuff half ass done.. Oh how I hate that feeling. I am sure you all can relate.. that's life I guess LOL!  My look today is very relaxed just the way I love my Friday's .  I love wearing jumpsuits they are the like the no brainer of fashion. All put together and all you have to do is decorate it however you see fit. It's kind of like a Christmas tree.. . I know I am almost as bad as retail stores bring up Christmas in September.LOL.
I picked up this jumpsuit about 6 month ago at New York and Company and this is one time I didnt' wait for something to go on clearance.  If you are pear shaped girl such as myself if you find a jumpsuit that fits you well on the top and the bottom you better jump on that. There was one left and it happened to be my size it was like it was sitting there waiting on me. I just loved the relaxed look and knew it was something I would wear many times. I decided  to wear my Rock and Republic booties and silver accessories and there you have perfect TGIF look. This is a look that I could wear for an after work cocktail that I am in great need for.  What is your TGIF look today?
My Look
Jumpsuit - NY and Company ( sim)
Bootes- Rock and Republic - exact ones Ebay

One Tough Act to Follow

I remember growing up I used to ask my Mom . Why did you name me such a boring name like Mary . I wanted something more exotic something unique. My Mom wanted to name me Sabrina but my Dad swore he would call me submarine ... and he really wanted to name me after his mother.  You would have to know how much of Mama's boy he was and still is. My Dad is 67 years old and she still keeps him in line. She only has to utter one word and you will see this big old man sit his butt down like a child. She has 8 children and she is still has that effect on all of them.

I grew up over 600 miles away from my Granny so I didn't' get to spend a lot of time with her but I have awesome memories of this lady . She wasn't like other Grandmothers or at least what I thought they were. She was not one of those I am going to sit in the house and knit a scarf and bake me some cookies. She was a Grandmother who would take you fishing or hunting with a shot gun. She would dance around the house and tease you endlessly about a boy.  I remember her waiting up for us when we would drive down to the country and no matter what the hour was made sure we ate and ate good.   As I grew up I got to know her even more . I found out more about her as a woman.  She has the most beautiful spirit and is so full of life and anyone that meets he just is in awe of her.

Today is my Grandmother's birthday and she is 92 years young and she is still as spunky as I remember her as a child. She will swear that she is prettier than any movie star or even her own daughters and grand daughters. She one day put one of my dresses on and told me that she looked better than me in it.LOL..I am thinking she is going to take my blog over . Oh Granny you really are a beauty inside and out and I am so glad that my Dad insisted that I be named after such a awesome woman. This lady is definitely one tough act to follow. I am grateful at 41 years old that I still have this special woman in my life.

Happy Birthday Granny... Wishing you many more!

Falling Into Animal Print

There is definitely no denying that fall is on it's way. I'm suddenly in the mood for pumpkin spice lattes and caramel apples. The mornings are definitely cooler and the reality that I need to put my sandals away is getting more obvious every morning .   This is that time of the year that it get's very confusing in Indiana. It doesn't feel cold enough for boots but getting a little to cool for sandals.. What 's a girl to do ? Well we do what we always do adapt and make it work... LOL.

In this post I wanted to highlight my love for animal prints for the fall.

My first look I  decided to wear some booties bare legged and a pencil skirt for my transition look . I wore a short sleeve blouse because I knew it was going to warm up. I just love mixing animal print with red's or burgundy there is just something about the combo for fall that gets me so excited. I was lucky enough to come across this little red number by Alfani at Clothes Mentor here is Fort Wayne. I love the material and can see me rocking it so many ways with the animal print or with black and white.. oh so many options. I decided to add just little bursts of animal print with my belt and booties.
My 2nd look I opted for leopard print pants and keeping it simple with a black tee and belt. I try not to overkill on the animal print I don't want to feel like Peg Bundy walking around and believe me my kids would let me know . You would think they had a job on Fashion Police when it comes to what I wear.. LOL.   I love these pants they are so comfortable and they were such a steel that I even picked up a pair for my fashion critic daughter .  When I showed her the pants she instantly said.. " Why did you get pants like mine" Excuse me like yours. .. You mean why did I buy you a pair of pants like mine? Now continue with your day girl..LOL. I think everyone in my family have these pants my sister , my aunt and my 92 Grandmother. My Grandmother will swear that none of us look as fabulous as she does in these pants and she is serious!
I totally agree when they say animal print is the new black it is such a staple in my wardrobe.  I will definitely be rocking mine this fall and beyond.. Just call me Peg or better yet Ms Bundy!

Feeling Chic In September

There is nothing like some fabulous shoes to make you feel chic and put together. I feel big city in Fort Wayne Indiana today... LOL.  I got these shoes back in the winter from one of my favorite places to shop +Kohl's . They are Rock and Republic I ended up waiting till they were marked down because as you know by now that is how I roll!  The cooler temps in morning caused me to pull out these closed toe shoes in my closet. I though they were the perfect match for my super cute Jones of New York skirt I scored for $10 at the Clothes Mentor here in Fort Wayne.  These shoes give my look more of and edge and a high fashion feel which is just what I was going for.  What I love about this skirt is the light pink stripe in the center and the material is just a heavy high quality with just the right amount of stretch. I know it looks white in the picture but the light pink makes it a little more unique.  I decided to add a my simple black Bisou Bisou peplum from +JCPenney and add some pink accessories and my chic' look was born.

What so you have in your closet that makes you feel high fashion? Is it a fab pair of shoes a little black dress? I would love to know

Hope you are having a fabulous week and we are one day closer to Friday!

Second Chance

I remember when the Duro Olowu line came out at Jcpenney's and thought to myself this is cute but I wasn't sure about it.. See this was before my blogger days. That is when different scared me when basic patterns were all my closet consisted of. The beauty of this blog it really has made me think out of the box when it came to fashion and to try new things. My motto is .." Just try it on you may be surprised" and I have been many times .  Now when I saw this dress at my local Clothes Mentor I knew immediately this was from Jcpenney's now either that is one heck of a memory or I have a serious problem..lol. I am thinking more of the second option.   I just love the ethnic pattern of this dress the color combination is lively and beautiful . I decided to pair this with my Steve Madden shoes to give it more a casual vibe and these shoes cover more of my foot so they are perfect for  a transition look for the fall. I lastly added a denim jacket and out the door this lady has business!
That is what I love so much about Clothes Mentor if I missed out of something that I loved or didn't know I loved at the time I may get a 2nd chance at finding it just like I did with this dress and many times before and for a fraction of the price . Just like my Mama always says if it's meant to be than it will be there.. and once again it was meant to be.
Ladies don't forget that Clothes Mentor is looking for fall and winter items so why not brings those items that you are no longer wearing for some cash on the spot or to find those 2nd chance items that you missed out on the first time around.
How are you Fashionista's getting out of your comfort zones what new things are you trying? Please dish?  In the words of the fabulous Joan Rivers " Who are you wearing?"
Have a wonderful week
