Curlybyrdie Flies - My Jcpenney Muse Experiance Part 1

When I was in my 20's and someone would tell they are they were in th eir 40's I used to think man they are old.  Now that I am 42 naturally my whole attitude has changed. I can honestly say that I feel better about myself than I ever have.  Believe me there are moments when I notice that I am not as young as used to be.

I started this blog when I turned 40 as kind of a creative outlet. I had spent my latter 20's and 30's as a single mother of 2 great children. Sometimes you lose yourself when you are trying to be everything for everyone else. It's like my Mother always say it's better to do a couple things good instead of doing to many things half assed.. and believe me there was a lot of half ass going on.... So 2 years ago I decided I am going to something just for me where my voice could be heard. Now believe me it was scary I worried about that people would say " Who does she think she is ?" . .. " What she thinks she's cute or something ?'. When I first started there were friends and even family that didn't understand why I was doing this but that was ok.  This blog is so much more to me than highlighting me in cute clothes that I get at a good deal on. It is truly about me stomping out those insecurities and putting myself out there and inspiring other women like myself to get out of their comfort zone.  I have lived my entire life feeling insecure it has prevented me moving forward in so many areas.. work, relationships and opportunities. It was like a light went on at 40 that said... No more .. it's now or never!

It  is a true testament that you are never to old to follow your passion . I feel that all those years I was caught in a catapiller phase and I was comfortable with that but knowing deep inside there are some wings under there that need to come out.  The only thing that was holding me back from becoming that butterfly was me.

At 42 years old I got a call that would really change me perspective on everything. I have shopped at Jcpenney for years since I was a little girl and probably 75% of my wardrobe is Jcpenney.  I start highlighting these finds on my blog and Instagram and they noticed. When they contacted and asked would I be available to fly to New York city for a photo shoot for there Spring Jcpenney Lookbook.. at first that catapiller Mary came out and thought .. " Do they have the right person ?"  Luckily they saw the Butterfly in me. So this 40 something Mama of 2 packed her bags and off to NYC she went for a weekend full of fashion, fun and meeting some awesome new friends. I can't wait to tell you more about that wonderful weekend.

This is my official Jcpenney Muse photo . I can't wait to share  more of my Jcpenney in NYC experience. I couldn't possibly fit it into one post so stay tuned my fashionistas'

Blushing on a Sunday

This Indiana weather is just so up and down.  Today started off as a fairly warm day but cooled off quick with some major April showers hopefully that means many May flowers.

This blush colored dress from Carson's has such a romantic and feminine feel and what girl doesn't want o feel like that sometimes. . I am such a girly girl and this was the perfect look to illustrate that. I decided to go out on a limb and buy a floppy straw hat. I have been secretly wanting one for months and I thought this was the perfect accessory for this dress. When walking down the street carrying this hat I had such a Mary Tyler Moore moment where I wanted to just throw the hat in the air what and awesome photo that would have been.. LOL. What jewelry is perfect for a that classic girly look.. Pearls of course. I added my pearl necklace that I picked up from Forever 21 along with some random bracelets from my collection I couldn't think of better day than Sunday to show off this look.

How did you Fashionista's spend your Sunday?

The Perfect Little Black Dress

How many black dresses do you currently have in your closet ? I can't begin to guess how many I own but when you find a perfect black dress that is so versatile and you find it at an awesome price how can you not add it to your wardrobe?

I was found this LBD at Kohl's I love the simplicity of this dress and the fabric quality and not to mention the 3/4 sleeves which is perfect for any woman that is unhappy with her arms.   I decided to keep my look very simple with this dress but I could really .  I added to my J-Lo necklace from Kohl's to give it a little bit of Diva .  The styling options with this dress are endless and I know this will go into heavy rotation .

Special Day calls for a Pretty Skirt

Today was a very special day for my family . My son was baptized today at church and started his new life of sanctification . I was extremely proud of him expressing his desire to be baptized . As I sat in the pew watching my not so baby boy taking steps into manhood I was overcome with emotions . I look forward to watching him make more decisions in life and grow into the best man he can be.

For this special occasion I just knew that I just had to wear this fabulous skirt that I got in NYC at my very first trunk sale .  I was recently selected to be a Jcpenney Muse and I was in New York for special shoot.. It was such and honor and privilege . I will post a blog post soon with all the wonderful details.

When I first walked in to this Trina Turk trunk sale my eyes were immediately drawn to the beautiful pattern on this skirt. This was one of those moments in my life where I felt like a kid in a candy store . When I tried this baby on I knew immediately that this skirt was coming back to Indiana with me. I decided to style this my simple Worthington button down and gorgeous floral statement necklace from +JCPenney  and my Sunday best look was born.

My Black and White Frugal Find

On the weekend you find me checking my email trying to decide if or where I will go to shop. Now my sister and I always have a plan. .Girls with a plan can sometimes be dangerous but in our case our plans save money.. LOL . When I saw that NY and Company were giving out free gift cards that could be valued at up to $100... honey I had my Mom , Sisters and Niece out there scoring coupons now we most of us only got a $5 giftcard all except my Mom got $10 .. the nerve of her taking my giftcard giftcard. ..lol . Now what can $5 buy well in me and my sisters case were found this faux wrap dress in black and white for $15 and used the giftcard and ended up paying $10 !! I just love this style because it is flattering on all body types. My sister and I are built totally different except for the curls of course and he both really loved this dress . I first thought about added a pop of color but instead opted to keep everything classic black and white. What about you ladies are in love with the wrap style dress?

Easter Sunday with Family

There is nothing like spending time with family during the holidays. It really makes you focus on what really is important.  It is easy to get busy with life and finding yourself not spending quality time with your loved ones.   It is those holidays that help you get reconnected with your loved ones and what better day than to celebrate Jesus dying on the cross to save our sins.

Growing up I used to love Easter going to church in a new dress, hat and gloves and for a girly girl like me that was pure heaven . When young we didn't have a lot of money but I always remember getting an Easter dress weather my Mom made it our my Aunt and Uncle bought it for me. I think that is when my slight obsession with dresses started.. LOL.  I decided to be a little more casual no hat or gloves but just a fabulous skirt that I picked up from Jcpenney .  When I saw this skirt in the store I was instantly obsessed with it. It is by MNG and the material quality is awesome and it fit this pear shape body just fine.  I decided to wear this with a classic white top and gorgeous statement also from Jcpenney . I ended up adding my lace up Rock and Republic sandals to give it a slight edge.

I hope all you fabulous Fashionista's had a fantastic Easter!
