Oh What a Skirt !

I just love wearing skirts in the Spring and Summer... maxi's and midi's are my favorite... yea not to fond of the mini's but who knows after I get some work in with my trainer I may feel differently . We shall see.  When I saw this skirt it just made such a statement to me... You know " Buy me immediately "  I just love the boldness of the pattern and a few years ago this pear shaped girl would have stayed away from this but these days... honey I wear what I like. I am way passed that stage of dressing for everyone else .  I embrace my curves and in case you haven't heard there a serious bootie revolution going on ! LOL

The first look I styled it with the matching style halter top . I love how this looks exactly like a sexy maxi dress . Skirt are so versatile they have so many styling options so you are getting more bang for your buck and you know that is what I am all about . I would totally wear this out to dinner , a date night .

Look 2

The next look is a has a more casual but sexy vibe due to the off the shoulder tee added. I am obsessed with this trend and have a feeling that I will wear this neckline quite often . I would wear this look to a street fair a nice casual dinner on a patio somewhere and I scored this tee at H&M for $5 what cute look at an awesome price point. Love this look !

I went for an even more casual look by adding and orange tank top and jean vest . This look is perfect for that Saturday trip to the mall or perhaps an event at your kids school. This would definitely pass the dress code of my teenage daughter! LOL

Which one did you like the best? Are you loving all the cute skirts that are out right now? I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday weekend .

Just Call Me Cha - Cha

One of my all time favorite all time movies is Grease .  I had the biggest crush on Danny I mean who didn't ? One of the best parts for me was at the school dance when him and Cha Cha were getting their groove on . This dress reminds me of her.. modest but sexy all at the same time. It makes me want to get out there on the dance floor and do some dirty dancing . It is the perfect skirt for the summer it's light and airy and the split adds that little bit of sex appeal.  I decided to wear my body suit that I got from New York and Company. I used to wear body suits all the time back in the day . I felt like they really help keep myself together .. if you know what I mean. Lol.  I just know that I will be getting some major wear out of this little number and to think I only paid $15 at Forever 21.  I am 42 years old and I know that I can't wear everything up in that store like my 17 year old daughter always points out .. but there are pieces that are on trend and are super affordable that make it to Mama's closet once in a while.

I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday weekend and getting your Cha Cha on!

One Bad Mama Jama

Do you guys remember that old Song " Bad Mama Jama " ?  Well I remember my Dad playing that song when I younger.. that was between the all the Elvis albums my Mom used to have us listening to to. .. Well when I saw this shirt posted on Kaan's Design's facebook page I just knew I had to own this especially after I saw Ashley (owner) say that she had memories of her father listening to this song back in the day .  It also spoke to me as a woman .   I am a single mother of 2 pretty cool kids ..I wear many hats and do all these while looking halfway cute...  It's like that song I think it may be from an old commercial .. I can bring home the bacon , fry it up in a pan .. and never let your forget your a man.. Yep that's one "Bad Mama Jama" just like so many other women I know!

In true "Fashionista on a Budget " style I decided to style this super cute tee 3 different ways. You all know I love getting more for my buck! LOL

Family, Friends and Celebration

Can you believe that it is already Monday ?  It just seems like the weekend flies by and you find yourself dreading the beginning of the week. My weekend was a busy one in a good way . I was still trying to come down from my high of being featured in my local newpaper The Journal Gazette.  The article was all about this blog and my Jcpenney Muse experience. ( in case you missed it post here). I was beyond excited about news . I was actually still on a high from my trip over a month ago to NYC and this was just the icing on the cake. There is no better feeling to be acknowledged for something that you are passionate about.

I also was a photographer to my daughter and nephews for their prom .  So I served as stylist to my nephews but my daughter pretty much styled herself because she is her Mother's daughter. That girl knows how to dress for her body type and do it on a budget.. What a proud Mama I am!  I actually had a pretty awesome time with my sisters and Mom shooting these pictures. I have to admit when editing these photos I got a little emotional just looking at these young adults and realizing they are practically grown . Where did the time go? I just want to pause make it last a little longer. My Mom always told me it will go so fast and I really didn't pay it to much attention but she was right.  How I wish I could have those days back when those 3 little  kids would sit on the coach and watch "The Prince of Egypt" . I am so proud of these kids can't wait to see what life has in store for them.

Now couldn't end this post with out adding a little fashion . I found this cute little dress at Steinmart. I have kind of rediscovered the cuteness that they have at there thanks to my sister. I had kind of forgotten about this place being that it's on the other side of town but let me tell you it is definitely worth a little drive. I scored this super cute dress there for under $20 on the clearance rack . I love the material and the pattern is beautiful .  I decided to add the yellow bag for a little bit of contrast and I love the combo. I hope all you fabulous fashionista's have a great start of the week and Friday will be here again before you know it!

Three for the Price of One

As many of you know I just love finding an awesome deal but when I find a versatile piece that I can style more than one way that is even better. I just love wearing jumpsuits but sometimes finding one to fit this pear size body and be a chore.. I was lucky enough to stumble across this Vince Camuto jumpsuit at such an unbelievable price of $29.99 (reg $128) at Carson's and than I had a 30% coupon  ...Oh yes it had to be mine!  I know with this being such a classic piece that can styled so many different ways that I surely got my moneys' worth .  I am sure this jumpsuit will make my regular rotation and will also be transitioned to my fall looks as well.. Now that is a win win for this frugal fashionista.   Do you ladies think about how many ways you can style an item before purchasing?

Downtown Diva

Have you ever saw a dress or some other clothing item and you know immediately that you are going to fall in love with it?  I knew that was the situation with this dress the first time I laid my eyes on it in Carson's that is exactly why I wouldn't try it on . It wasn't on sale it was $130 and this girl does not spend that type of money on one dress.. Some call it frugal or cheap I just know I don't have  it like that .. This mama has bills to pay and kids to raise.  I always joke with my sisters that if Jesus wants me to have it than it will be there when it goes on sale. ... and guess what he must have wanted me to have it because I got this fabulous dress for $47 ... now that is what I call a score !

I was so in love with this dress that I felt like it deserved a full out photo shoot.  The talented photographer Rick Miller that I recently met decided that we would meet in downtown Fort Wayne. It was a awesome time with some great photographs.  During one of the shots Rick told me to act like I was waiting for Limo and a little bit later a Limo drove by and was captured in the picture .I call that divine intervention or maybe it was a fluke with it being  prom season ... but I like divine intervention better.  You know kind of like that dress thing! LOL

How about you ladies.. Have you found an item that you felt like you just had to have and you ended up waiting it out and getting it at a steal? Don't you just love when that happens? I know I do .. like a kid on Christmas morning...

Flowers for Mom

I decided to get my Mama flowers for Mother's day  well kind of .. I ended up getting her this pretty flowered dress that I found at you guessed it Jcpenney.  I love buying women I care about pretty dresses especially on Mother's day because after all it's their day and they deserve to feel beautiful. It has been an extremely difficult year for my sweet mother she just lost her husband in January and it was even more important to me that she feel pretty  . When I saw this dress in the store it screamed Frances (my mama) to me.  She was very happy with the dress .. I guess they don't call me the "Dress Whisperer " for nothing .. LOL

 Dress Liz Claiborne - Jcpenney

I am no different than my Mom I want to wear a new dress on this special day . I am a Mother also and you know that there isn't a job that is harder than that.  When you become a Mother is truly a job that never ends . You worry about them even as they get older and that mothering instinct never goes away . You hurt when they hurt. You want to protect them from everything and you know that is just not possible . It takes a lot of love, patience and trust in God.

I decided to wear my dress from the Milly Collection at Kohl's .  I love the classic pattern and the flattering cut of this dress. I felt so feminine and the fabric felt great against my skin.

Today was an awesome day surrounded by my family and taking it all in.  I hope you Mother's had a fabulous day  ... you deserve to be happy and feel pretty .

Never Met a Stripe I didn't Like

I have slight obsession for stripes especially black and white stripes . I don't know what it is the contrast between the dark and light? I kept telling myself I am not buying anymore skirts I have enough than +JCPenney  brings this super cute skirt in the store it was seriously love at first sight. What is a girl to do? I'll tell you what this girl did.. I took that $10 off 25 coupon and picked this darling skirt for $15 .The light airy material makes it the perfect addition to your Spring/ Summer wardrobe . I think next time I will add a pop of color but this time I decided to go with the classic white and black color combo right down to the shoes.

What clothing item do you fashionista's have a hard time staying away from even when you have to many to count?
