This 70's Baby!

Yes the truth is out yes this chick was born in the 70's even though I am still 25 LOL.  I have always had such an fascination with this fashion trends of that decade  . I think of Studio 54 , Donna Summer and Elvis with those bell bottom jumpsuits . Even though I was a baby in that era they keep bringing these trends back over and over again.  One of my favorites is the wrap dress which became a 70's staple thanks to the fabulous designer Diane Von Furstenberg (sim)it's a trend that seems to stay around and I love it. It is so flattering on all body types . The dress that I found at Charlotte Russe is a faux wrap but has the same look and the color combo says the 70's all the way !  I just love the shades or burgundy and various browns . I really had forgotten about Charlotte Russe  I used to buy  all my club clothes when I was young but there are some on trend pieces that  40 something fashionista can fuse into her wardrobe once in a while .

Now another trend that I am totally loving right now  are the flared jeans.. I loved them when they came back when I was younger and I am still loving them ! I feel they are the perfect cut for girls with butts and hips and this girl has all of thee above! I feel like it kind of does a balancing act. I have tried on many of the flared legs on and these jeans that I picked up for non other than Jcpenney are one of my favorites .  I decided to add this long duster that I picked up at Target a few weeks ago.  I love the laid back boho vibe of this look .  You will definitely see me sporting the wide leg jeans over and over again!

Birthday Girl - Giveaway Winner

Another birthday , a year older and hopefully wiser .  I will have to say that 42 was a pretty interesting year full of some pretty awesome moments but it was also a very emotional year for me.  I have learned so much about myself and learned that I am a lot stronger than I ever thought I was.  I have found  that in my 40's my entire perspective on life has changed.  That you are now in the home stretch of your best years. The things you used to think were so important in life suddenly are just so trivial .   You appreciate the little moments something as small having a cup of coffee with your 17 year old daughter because you know that pretty soon she will be away at college and those moments will be few and far between.

Most importantly  I have finally discovered who Mary is. I have many flaws but guess what I am finally ok with that...which is best feeling in the world.

On my special day I spent the day with the people that mean the most to me and that would be my family and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Now finally what you have been waiting for .. the winner of the $150 Jcpenney card and Style Session with non other than me !  See my latest Jcpenney Look and the winner listed below !

Stylenspire Fabulous Skirt - Look 3 - Pink and Pretty

What a fun week this has been on Curlybyrdie Chirps... What a great way to celebrate my birthday week sharing my looks with such a breathtaking skirt. If I had to pick my favorite look I would say it was this one. I wanted to style this with a colorful top something to enhance the pink in skirt and what girl doesn't like pink  ? I really was concerned about the top matching this skirt but I found that it was flowed nicely . Just like life.. it's not always perfect but most of the time it just seems to work out.

I really enjoyed this particular post for many reasons.  The first being the obvious having the opportunity to styles such a gorgeous garment.  Not only was the skirt just beautiful it was wonderful wearing something hand made, high quality and unique. I felt young, vibrant and like a princess in this skirt its hard not to with such fabulousness blowing in the wind.   When I spoke with Yemi the designer and owner behind Stylenspire and asked her what her inspiration behind the name of her shop she said " I wanted to highlight the fact that women who look beautiful,; dress beautifully, are also beautiful from inside out. Hence the name, Stylenspire.  " I am totally inspired!

Secondly I enjoyed working with such an awesome photographer Kim from KB Photo that I now consider my friend.  I laughed and joked but most importantly she knew exactly what I was looking for even when I wasn't quite sure !

What I have learned in my 2 years of blogging is I am inspired everyday by someone.. readers , designers , photographers , family members and bloggers . We all have passions in life mine just so happens to be fashion it always has been that way ever  since I had those little fashion plates my Mom got me when I was bout 8 ... it never stopped . I loving finding deals and sharing with my readers but what I love the most is helping another woman feel pretty or give them a little pep in their step because they walked out the door with confidence in that $20 dress they thought they couldn't wear.

Stylenspire Fabulous Skirt 3 ways - Part 2 - Classic Girl

I just love these segments when I style an item 3 ways especially when it is something as gorgeous as this skirt from Stylenspire . In my last post I showed a little shoulder and made it a little  more of a modern sexy look  but today I wanted to show more of a classic take.  This is the look I would take to church or perhaps a family get together of some sorts.  Now when selecting tops to go with the skirt I wanted to keep one look on the neutral side so all focus is on this beautiful skirt  . I went when this tan button up that I picked up from my local Goodwill about 2 years ago. I love the neutral palette I decided to add some color with this beaded necklace the brighten up the front of this shirt.  I could totally see our First Lady wearing a similar look . So classic but the skirt brings the excitement to the party . . I guarantee that you would not be able to resist twirling in this skirt. . It's impossible I promise.

The most challenging part of this shoot was climbing up the wall pictured below if you know me at all this chick is not about that climbing trees , mountains or walls life  but my photographer Kim had a vision .. and I am glad she made me think outside my comfort zone.

So here is look 2 .. In case you missed the first look  you can check it out here

Stylenspire - Fabulous skirt Styled 3 ways - Part 1

There are items of clothes that you just are in awe of and ladies this skirt would be one of those items!  A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to win a gift certificate to Stylenspire Afro-Centric Contempary clothing boutique. I can't express enough how excited I was to win  because I had already fallen in love with these beautiful pieces when I was introduced to the line by Indianapolis stylist Coco Cuffie . You can definitely see the African and Asia inspiration that is mentioned on the website.  It is the perfect fusion of fabulous.

The designer Yemi Sanni  is the lovely lady that creates this line with artistic flair and the owner of this shop. . These  gorgeous articles of clothing are so much more than just a piece of clothing they are truly a conversation piece. So be prepared to receive many compliments when wearing these designs. The quality and the love that is put into these pieces make them one of a kind.  I was lucky enough to interview the beautiful Yemi Sanni about her line.

How long have you been in business ?
The brand Stylenspire just turned One this past August. But I have been designing clothes for women since 2006.
How did you come up with the name of your shop? What was the inspiration behind it. ?
The inspiration behind it is that Fashion should inspire; we cannot just wear Fashion without doing it in Style. Also, I wanted to highlight the fact that women who look beautiful, & dress beautifully, are also beautiful from inside out. Hence the name, Stylenspire.

How long have you been sewing ?  When did you discover it was your passion? -
I have been sewing & using Fabric Paint to design clothes my mum bought me since I was Fourteen. I made my first Black sheath dress at that age, inspired by a model off the front page of a Vogue Magazine in 1996.
What has been the best thing about starting this shop?
Sharing a piece of my passion with all the people I come in contact with, most especially my clients who are each my Stylenspirations.
Do you have any upcoming events that you want to share?
I just participated in the 2015 Project IMA -Cutting Loose exhibition competition and won the 'Audience Choice Awards' this past Friday, October 9th at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. I will be a Vendor & also showing some of my Fall collection at the upcoming Working Divas 50 Shades of Pink Celebration in Carmel on Sunday, October 25th.

Thanks Yemi for sharing you time and your talent !

This skirt is so fabulous that I decided to style it 3 ways and my photographer Kim Bailey from KB Photo  took to many awesome pictures there was no way to do this skirt or her work justice so let's begin with look one.

Sunday Casual with Faux Leather Poncho and Stylco Designs

I just love a relaxing Sunday with plenty of sunshine  it truly makes for a better end of  a weekend. Now this coming week it not typical one for me it's the week leading up to my 43rd birthday .  Am I down about getting a year older ? The answer is no not at all.. I keep praying that 43 will as awesome at 42 was .  I am proud of the accomplishments I made this past year and I have some personal goals that I will be focusing on this coming year. I will talk about that the closer I get to that special day !

On Sunday I love to be casual but that doesn't mean it has to boring. Believe  me I have those sweatpants types of days but I really felt like doing a little extra today  .   I have been wanting  to wear this poncho that I got from Jcpenney's awhile ago and I thought this sunny fall day would be the perfect opportunity.  I always get paranoid wearing white or cream because it would be just like this clumsy girl to spill something right on the front of this so there will be no eating or drinking in this .

I decided to accessorize this perfect poncho with this leather like bracelet with gold chain and beading that I recently got from this fabulous Mother and Daughter ran online jewelry boutique Sylco Designs .  When they let me pick out a piece from their line I was very excited but the hard part was narrowing it down to one because these pieces are like art . The quote on their website really sums up these gorgeous pieces

“Nature meets design through the use of recycled wood ,shells, and natural dyes. The result? Eco-chic handcrafted jewelry that’s powerful and transformative” – Sylca Designs

I am such a fan of ethnic style clothing and jewelry and these pieces have Native American,, Mediterranean and  African inspiration and I am all about that life.

Sylca  Designs has been kind enough to extend a discount of  20 % to all my readers by using code CBC20 .    I am quite sure that you will have the same problem I did just picking one.

My Friday Favorites - JLO Style

Can I just say that last week I had a pretty awesome thing happen to me last (understatement) .. Well my style Icon  Jennifer Lopez tweeted me on twitter for Kohl's Yes2You campaign where you say #Yes2You to someone who inspires you . Woot Woot! .. hands in the air still !  I was sitting at my son's football practice when I saw this tweet and nearly fell out of the car.. As soon as my son got in the car I said "JLO tweeted me "  I think he was just as exited as I was and that is pretty difficult getting a teenage boy excited about anything unless it's food.. but than again it is Jennifer Lopez.

The Jennifer Lopez line is one of my favorites at Kohl's I just love the sexy and stylish line it makes this 40 something feel fabulous and what I love most is that I can totally see J-LO rocking these pieces and I have seen her wear her line on more than one occasion... Love that girl!

So let's get started !

The first item I wanted to highlight which is my current favorite is this beautiful jumpsuit. This rich green jumpsuit is so chic and I fell in love with it the moment I saw it and I had to complete this look with my favorite J-Lo shoes that I purchased last year that I am still totally obsessed with.

My Look - Jumpsuit -Jennifer Lopez here
Shoes - Candies - sim
Clutch - Apt 9-sim
Necklace - Mudd sim

There are many other items that I love from the Jennifer Lopez so it was hard deciding which to highlight which is definitely a good problem to have.  These are my picks!

Fringe Bag (here) , Vest (here) , Necklace (here), Printed Pants (here), Boots (here), skirt (here)

Fringe - I selected the fringe clutch and booties because I am just in love with this trend maybe it has something to do with my Native American heritage. I think both of these are  a wardrobe must for the fall and can be styled in a chic or a boho style .

Fur Vest -  This vest is so fierce and so J-LO I love the chain detail it gives it some added flair . This vest would be perfect with your favorite jeans or perhaps over that favorite LBD .

Statement Necklace -  there is nothing like that perfect statement necklace to make a drab outfit get fab. I love the artistic flare of this piece it would make any plain t-shirt look gorgeous !

Leopard Pants - I love love these pants ! I actually have them and the fit is superb . I can see myself stylying these like crazy over the fall and winter months. Totally cute with tall boots but also very stylish with some simple pumps and a jacket..

Black Pencil Skirt -  Now I already have black pencil skirt but I don't have one with a zipper on the side.. so sexy .. So this is definitely one that I will be adding to my skirt collection.  Not your average pencil skirt ladies!

For additional saving  Take 20% off w/CANDYCORN valid 10/15 -10/20

I hope you found something you liked from the Jennifer Collection .. I know I did but that's pretty normal for me.. LOL

Last but not least I wanted to share the tweet that was heard around the world.. LOL at least in my mind. It was such an honor to have this fierce and fabulous lady send a tweet to this  little ole Curlybyrdie from Indiana .. Thanks Jennifer you made my year .. :)

As always I want to thank you so much for taking time out your day to stop by it's so appreciated!

My Success at Ross for Less

When I was in Atlanta for a certain baby boys 1st birthday I just had to visit a few places that we don't have in good ole Fort Wayne Indiana and Ross Dress for Less was at the top of my list. I have seen so many fashionista's brag about all these awesome dresses they get from this store with such fantastic prices and you guys know that is right up my alley.  So this mermaid style maxi dress caught my eye I just love the tribal design and the pattern is strategically placed which makes it oh so figure flattering.. All of this for only $13 retail price $49..... Oh I think I am in love. I would totally rock this as a maxi skirt by added at top over the dress creating a mermaid maxi skirt but today I decided to add my favorite Target Jean jacket to the mix.  I really just took a pic for my OOTD didn't plan on doing a blog post but I seriously got so many compliments that I had to share in hopes that you ladies would have a chance to pic one of these up for yourself.. because this $13 dress will makes you feel like J-Lo , BeyoncĂ© somebody that is totally fearless and fabulous .
