The Fab 40's do Pop Art

Well it's that time of the month again where I get to collaborate with  my fellow Fashionista's the "Fab 40's " a group of International bloggers that are pretty amazing. Every month we take turns selecting a theme and we each create our own interpretation of that that looks like.

This month the theme was " Pop Art " chosen by the lovely Samantha. Now I will have to admit when I first heard the theme I was like .. What the what? I felt like it was totally out of my comfort zone but that is really what makes it so interesting.  So I started getting my creative juices flowing and this is what I came up with.

I felt like this jacket was perfect for the  " POP ART " theme it had fun quirky vibe that I was looking for and added the fabulous neon pumps that I picked last year just made it POP !

The funny thing about this little purse was that I picked it up randomly when I was at one of my trips to Target. I saw it on clearance in the little girls section for $3 and I thought I can do something with this and it ended up working out perfectly .

Jacket (here)  Skirt and Top - The Limited , Shoe - Jcpenney , scarf - Express, Purse - Target

The red gingham style brought some fun to this look and kept still kept the look feminine which is more my style.

Now let's see the other " Fab 40's " take on this fun theme.

Samantha from The Fake Fabulous came up with the Pop Art theme and let me say she went all the way in on this look. I love how she incorporated the theme down to her bright yellow socks and the fun button down. She is the queen of layers and she didn't now disappoint this month . What a fun theme and kudo's to you for getting me out of my comfort zone!

Lisa from The Sequinist is our guest blogger for this month and let me just say I love love love her take on this theme. I am such a dress and skirt girl and this skirt is just everything and love how she added the the sexy shoe to the mix all while staying in theme.  Love it girl!

Sheela from Sheela Writes always brings on the fabulous shoe game and she does not disappoint this month . I am totally in love with this Pop Art perfection look. She always amazes me with her interpretation of the theme so street chic girl!

Jennie from A Pocketful of Polka Dots had me at Hello with this look such a gorgeous skirt and than adding bright hues and supercute bag just seals the deal with this amazing look.  I am totally obsessed with this look Jennie!!

Anne from Kremb De La Kremb is so the girl I want to be . She is  just amazing when it comes to DIY 's and this girl is just not that crafty. I love the the fabulous skirt just right up my alley and the amazing patch shirt that she made herself she really kicked this one right out the park!

Diane from Fashion on the 4th Floor makes everything look so effortless and amazing! Love love the sweatshirt style dress and than being so creative added the design on the sweatshirt  soo cute and love the matching sneakers.  You go my fellow Curly girl! Love it

And so there you have it another amazing month with these fabulous ladies and what a fun one it was.I love how much each one of these ladies inspire me each and every month and allows me to be more creative and try new things .

Updated Classics

I just love a classic pieces with a little big off added trend to update the look  it just brings a little something extra to the mix . That really is how I would define my fashion style a classic with some added trends . I love the truly classic pieces but I love to add a modern flare to the equation just to give it a little ummmph !

When I saw this light blue and white button down shirt which I might add is so on trend for these spring and summer months it made me think of summer in the Hampton's that Jackie Kennedy classic vibe but than you add the high low peplum to the look it adds a little spice.. and I am about that spicy life.

I decided to style these with my skinny embroidered jeans that I am absolutely in love with and my cute little clutch/crossbody  from the "Who What Wear " collection at Tar Jay on clearance  Woop woop!  I just love Target and I am totally obsessed with their clearance  It's just something about shopping those end caps for all those treasures. LOL

I think I'll just walk it on out!  I have to get those steps in !

Sunny In Febuary

I have really been enjoying these unseasonably warm days in Indiana .  This weekend we were up in the mid 60's and it was simply amazing to walk around with no need for the big winter gear that we are so accustom to this time of year. Could it be global warming ?  Whatever the reason I sure enjoyed the warm sun on my face.

With this awesome weather I thought it was the perfect time to wear this amazing dress that I picked up  a while ago from +EXPRESS . I  just love a shirt style dress so classic and chic and the the color combo so bright and vibrant and I am all about that life.

I simply loved the double slits in the front perfect for a those windy days but be careful you might have a Marilyn Monroe moment just like I did !

Women of More Magazine - Helping Women find their More

We as women wear many hats in our life .  So often we are taking care of everyone else we forget that women inside of us that we forgot to be.  I know for years that was my life trying to balance so many things as single mother of two wonderful children  I seldom took the time to even try and realize what my passion or my purpose was.   It was when I turned forty that decided that I needed MORE in my life and that's when this blog started.

A few years ago I had the pleasure of meeting Michelle Washington the creator of  Women of More Magazine at a Women's retreat and I was awe of her powerful spirit and it the first time I was introduced the concept of I am MORE than what I am doing right now in my life.   A simple sentence but what a powerful meaning that forces you to dig deep to try and find that MORE . We all have it but sometimes we get so caught up in life that we don't take the time to find it.

Michelle  Washington had dream of starting a Magazine and that is exactly what she did. She started  "Women of More " magazine that empowers women and highlighting women in the community who are making strides in their life and well as making an impact on other women.  I was deeply flattered when I as asked to be a contributor to this magazine with some pretty amazing women that talk about issues that really impact our life as women.  I talk about Fashion of course because  my passion is helping women find their beautiful showing them that no matter their age, body type or the size of their bank account that they should always feel fabulous when they walk out the door.

This months edition my article "Fashionably Fit " (here) is all about me getting back on my fitness journey tips and tricks but also looking fashionable while doing it without breaking the bank.

Pink and Polka Dots

There are two things that make me really happy and that would be the color pink and polka dots and when I can put those things together it's gets this girl excited.    The combination of both just feel really young and feminine which is especially lovely this time of the year.

I am girl that is all about the details for instance if I have 10 whites blouses and I know I don't need one but it could be that one detail that makes it a yes for me it could be a bows on the sleeves or maybe a detailed collar.  That was the case with this blouse  the large and bold polka dots really caught my eye but when you add the bow factor it was a definite  " Oh Yass "  for me .  I thought it looks quite smashing with a pop of pink so I thought let's try these ripped light pink jeans and than add yet another shade of pink with this amazing mauve  jacket that I scored at Forever 21 for $12 reg $49  yes you heard me right $12 .

So here we have a more casual take on an Valentine's Inspired Look
