Velvet Obsessed with Eva

I just love the classic and chic vibes that the Eva Mendes line gives me and after winning a shopping spree I was able to indulge in some of my favorite pieces over the past few weeks and simply can't wait to see what the holidays have in store for us.  I was lucky enough to get a little preview and ladies I will be all up in New York and Company checking for that.

As I have said at least a 1000 times is one of my favorite trends for fall is velvet and when I laid my eyes on this velvet military jacket from the Eva line I was totally in. The gold accents give me chic Michael Jackson vibes and a classic that I can wear for many years to come. I just adore items that I can bring back next year and it still looks fresh and totally on trend.

I decided to add the velvet pleated midi skirt to the mix and gives it a classic and feminine look. I  am sure that this skirt will be making a frequent appearance in my fall and winter looks. Perfect for holiday parties, work, and dinner dates.

The gold details on this amazing jacket had me like " add to cart" The fit is amazing and it is a quality piece that I will be wearing in heavy rotation in the cooler months. I will be styling this with jeans also. It is certainly the focal point for your outfit.

I thought my lace-up Leander Booties would be the perfect addition to this outfit not only are these booties soooo cuuuute they are comfy which is a must on these 40 something feet.

This is my favorite season I just love watching the leaves turn colors. Such a beatiful time to live in Indiana. Pumpkin spice and everything nice :)

I added a pop of color with my Eva bodysuit. I just love the way that bodysuits keep everything together you don't have to worry about your shirt not laying right it just keeps the look sleek. Just don't wait until the last minute to go to the bathroom. LOL

Are you fashionista's loving the velvet trend as much as I do? Are you obsessed with the military jacket trend also? Would love to hear what your favorite fall trends are this year.

Meeting Eva Mendes

I can honestly say that I never in a million years would think that I would get so many wonderful experiences that I have since I started this fashion blog.  The great collaborations that I have been part of have been amazing and believe me I am so thankful to God and everyone who have been my supporters in every way. Back in May, I entered the New York and Company Eva Spring Style Contest. It was a contest where people entered photos wearing clothing from the Eva Mendes line from New York and Company and they selected their favorites.  .It was then the publics job to vote for the winner of the Grand Prize which was an all expense trip to meet the beautiful Eva Mendes and as if that wasn't enough a shopping spree!  A shopping spree to my favorite store I mean I go way back with New York and Company back like when it was Lerner.  Well, I am proud to say that this little Byrdie from Fort Wayne, Indiana was the grand prize winner.

What makes this even more amazing I was able to select one guest and I thought there is no one more deserving than my Mom. She always sacrifices for everyone else that I wanted to share this amazing once in a lifetime experience with her and she loves the Eva line as much as I do.

I snapped this photo on the car ride to the hotel in downtown LA and I remember looking over at her watching her take in all the scenery. My mom has never been to California and feeling so happy that I was able to share that experience made it even better.

My Mama getting her pose on!

It was such a blast hanging out in downtown LA and Eva and New York and Company made sure that we had the time of our lives and were totally comfortable!

After taking in the city sites it was now time for there girls to get glammed up to meet Eva we had hair and makeup right in our hotel room now that is what I call celebrity treatment. The amazing thing is the gentleman that did our hair had just done 5th Harmony's hair the night before for the VMA's and I was so amazed that he could get those curls tamed and had me feeling all glam!

We were all ready to head over and meet Eva and so very excited.  I didn't know what to expect have never really met a celebrity before and I am such a fan of her clothing line and of her movies.

My Mom and I  met Eva on the set of her photo shoot for her New York and Company line and let me tell you she is even more beautiful in person and most importantly she was so kind and made us feel totally at ease. She asked me about my daughter in college and was so sweet to my mom. We were even able to go behind the scenes and see things that are coming up and I can hardly wait! Not only was Eva so sweet everyone made us feel important and like a celebrity ourselves and it was amazing!

I even got the chance to shop with Eva's design consultant Alejandro who was amazing pushed me a little out of my comfort zone and that is definitely a great thing and even got my mama out of hers!

Yass! bags and bags now how do we get this stuff home? LOL

After an amazing day, we finished the night off with dinner and drinks on the rooftop an amazing view and great way to end the night and this experience.

I am so grateful to Eva Mendes, New York and Company and all of you that voted for me it was a dream come true. I so grateful that I got to hang out in Cali with my most loyal supporter my Mom it will be an experience that we will never forget!

Fall Favorites Velvet and Kimono's

Hello, my fabulous friends, it's my favorite time of year it's officially Autumn. Now that may have something to do with my birthday being in October or perhaps it's all pumpkin everything season.  Yes, I am one of those crazy girls that loves everything pumpkin from Lattes to Cheerios.

I also love the fall color palette the orange, greens, and browns just make my heart so happy and the layering just lets this girl get creative with my fashion choices.  I am always excited to see what the trends are going be this year and two of the current things I am loving are velvet and kimono. Kimonos are the perfect layering pieces that can transition pieces right into the cooler temps.

I fell in love with the mustard colored velvet like jumpsuit the moment I laid my eyes on it. I love the off the shoulder style and the gorgeous shade of yellow I knew that it was going to be mine!

I decided in this look to add this vintage style bag that I was able to find at my local goodwill I just thought it was a perfect mix of vintage and modern that worked perfectly together.

I love the fit and could definitely see my rocking this jumpsuit so many different ways like changing up the look I did with this gorgeous velvet jacket below I just love the gold and wine color together it's a combo that I really haven't thought too much about before but I am really loving it now!

Now let's talk about this beautiful Kimono the pattern caught my attention initially it just so pretty with the shades of green and mustard and adding in the pink and burgundy shades I was immediately smitten but when I saw the velvet trim it just got promoted to " MUST HAVE"

So what are your thoughts on these fall trends? What trends are you forward to trying this fall? Would love if you would comment below with your favorites :) You can shop this look below

As always I would like to thank you for stopping by it's always a pleasure!

Kohl's 2 Cart to Cart

Never in a million years when I started this blog 4 years ago did I ever anticipate collaborating with some my favorites stores.  I was over the moon when I was given the opportunity to work with Kohl's for the second time and also met a pretty amazing young lady  Adrian who is blogger and Mommy just like me.

What I love about this latest project it allowed me to reflect on my journey of motherhood and also gave me an opportunity to share some of my knowledge with Adrian who is a young mother just getting started on her own journey. I was amazed at how we immediately connected and learned from each other. Adrian gave me some insight about my own daughter who is a sophomore in college and what she might need and what she is currently going through.

Check out video below

This video captured my true emotions and exactly the way that I have been feeling over the past few years. Looking back and thinking that raising these two kids as a single mother was so hard no I was so wrong that hardest part is letting them go. It's like going through the most painful breakup ever.  Don't get me wrong I want them to spread their wings and leave the nest yes like little Byrdie's but sending them out in that big world is scary for a Mama bird.

I am so thankful to Kohl's for this opportunity and introducing me to Adrian she is an amazing young woman and she loves Elvis just like me. I mean what are the odds? Now I am not sure if she loves pumpkin spice also but if she does I know for sure she is my soul sister!  Check out her amazing blog AK Avenue

I am so excited to see what God has in store for the rest of my life so far the 40's have been emotional but also pretty amazing and I am so thankful.

As always I want to thank you so much for stopping by not just today but any day that you have stopped by and listened to what this Byrdie has to chirp about. It means everything to me!

Me walking into my future like!
