Caped and Sophisticated

I am always on the hunt for the perfect black dress and  I love a classic look but I also like a little added pizazz .. something that takes that LBD a little over the top with a little added glamour.  When I was contacted by GCGME to collaborate with their brand I was immediately interested when I viewed  the website and saw many maxi dresses online . There were so many to pick from but I wanted to select something that was like nothing I had and the Sabrina with that fabulous cape caught my immediate attention .   I  just love the way that it swings when I walk it makes me feel so sophisticated , chic and little bit like Elvis in a good way.. LOL  . Do you remember seeing him make his grand entrance on the stage with the jumpsuit and cape it was so dramatic and he just commanded the attention of everyone when he walked into the room? Well honey that is how I feel when I wear this dress.

This is the perfect look to wear to an event or even on date night with your sweetie. I was impressed with the quality of the material . This dress will definitely get me through the holiday party season . What do you think of the cape ? Is it a trend you would try ?

Unslaved - A Store but so Much More

As I was doing my normal routine of walking around the mall; my attention was drawn to an array of colorful skirts in the window. These skirts brought me into the store, but it was the inspiring story that made me fall in love with it. I had the pleasure of sitting down with the owner, Rhonda Patterson, for a conversation about the story behind this beautiful store.   When I sat down with her, I could tell she had a caring heart and that she was also very transparent. She really gave me insight on how much of an issue human trafficking is in other countries as well as the United States. The store stays true to her message. The name of the store is Unslaved  which means freedom of bondage and slavery and it just opened in Glenbrook Mall in Fort Wayne , Indiana .

Many of the pieces are handmade by survivors from various countries such as Africa , Sri Lanka    , Nepal and India.  I love how unique the clothing , jewelry and purses are. Yet, at the same time I also feel like I am supporting a wonderful cause when shopping in this store . Which is a lovely thing.

There is a picture of  the lovely couple who started it all inside the store,  Bruce and Rhonda Patterson who 8 years ago followed their passion of making a difference for those who have experienced human trafficking.  They gave up their homes, vehicles, and money all for the cause; however, she says it was the happiest time of their life. "We had never been at such peace and happiness until it was gone and our focus was on our passion." Sadly Bruce passed away about 5 months ago and wasn't able to see this part of their dream manifest. His presence is still very much apart of the store.

Rhonda`s dream doesn't stop at the store. She also has a clothing line that will be made by survivors. She also plans on starting  a line of active wear that features the individual  person`s story on the inside. "It`s not for everyone to see, It`s personalized for yourself."

Rhonda also plans to start a group for other survivors once a month so they can build a sisterhood that empowers each other. She is not afraid to share her story and help others that have gone through the same thing.

This beautiful, strong, and compassionate woman uses her voice and her story to help other woman realize that they are not alone. There are people who understand and care.

She left me with the words  "I`m not a victim, I`m a survivor."  and not only is she a survivor she is an inspiration to so many...myself included .

Please visit this fabulous store at Glenbrook mall or visit their facebook page here

So many fabulous items and reasonably priced all for a great cause

I can not express how much I love this beautiful skirt it a wrap skirt that can be worn many different ways including as a dress and it was only $29 . You really should visit this wonderful store you will love it as much as I do!

Thank you so much for stopping by !

Olive Green times 3

It's that time of the week again.. it's Sunday so that means it time for me to put my fashionista skills to the test once again with the 3rd week of "One piece 3 ways! "   I am styling this simple olive green maxi dress which is a recent find from one of my goto stores Kohl's . This shade of this green  is one of my favorite colors to wear during this time of year. I love how versatile this dress is ..so many styling options and that is exactly what this segment is about !

So lets get this fashion train rolling !

Look 1 - Workflow

As I said previously olive green is one of my favorite colors to wear this time of year but the other would have to be a deep Wine color . Nothing says fall like these colors to me  and when you put them together it was just a Magical combo!  I would totally rock these colors with animal print also but today honey it's all about these fabulous booties. I am totally in love with these gorgeous kicks so much so I think I need these in other colors also ..

Dress - Apt 9 - Kohl's
Booties - Apt 9 - Kohl's
Sweater - SO - Apt 9
Necklace - Jlo -Kohl's

Look #2 - Girl's Night Out

I love taking a simple dress and adding a little shine to add some glamour . I think nothing says glamour like Gold . I decided to add my Apt 9 choker necklace with my sexy gold gladiator style heels and small clutch and created the perfect sexy night out on the town look with minimal effort and I am all about that life .

Necklace - Apt 9 - Kohl's
Shoes - Jcpenney - sim
Clutch - Target

Look #3- Casually Boho

Who knew that I would become such a fan of Boho style in my 40's . In the past I have tended to gravitate to more of a glamour girl style but I have found an appreciation for this more romantic easy breezy style. I love me some fringe and I just thought this duster  was the perfect accessory to give this dress an entirely different look.

Duster - Carson's  ( clearance $14.99 )

Shop with me Saturday - Eva Mendes Line

I have been shopping at NY and Company for years I mean back when they were Lerner's . I better quit I am starting to tell my age.. LOL.  I will honestly say that Eva Mendes line is the thing that gets me the most excited. I just love her classic yet chic style it is perfect for a lady that's in her 40's that still wants to be fashion forward. After I saw Eva on the Wendy Show I just knew I had make my way in there and see this fabulousness for myself .  I decided that I would try on a few of these gorgeous pieces  and highlight my favorites.  When let's get this shopping party started.

The Faye Dress -here

Eva was wearing this dress on the Wendy show and she looked so stunning . I fell in love with the color palette and the gold band around the waist gives it that element of glamour . This is the perfect fall dress and in my favorite midi length.

Auberge Dress- here

When I saw Wendy looking oh so fierce in this sophisticated and sexy dress I knew that I wanted to try out myself. I just adore the Sangria color and the faux fax top . It just says " Autumn has arrived "

Pia Shirtdress - here

This chic loves her some polka dots so when I saw this gorgeous green dress  I knew that I had to try this one on. It is a flowing masterpiece so complimentary to this pear shaped girl .  If I had to score this between 1 and 10 this would be an 11 ..

Ali Sweater Dress- here

I just wearing sweater dresses in the fall nothing like a sweater dress and boots when it gets cooler.  I don't usually gravitate towards blue but this bright beautiful blue kind of demanded my attention. The pockets give a little element of uniqueness. I was a little hesitate putting pockets in the front of these hips.. drawing extra attention but they are here so what can I do about it. LOL

Mila ColdBody Suit- here  -  Suede Skirt -here

This last look came together by accident . I originally was going to style this cold shoulder body suit with the midi skirt it was picture with and than I saw this fringe skirt hanging up in the fitting in my size and decided to try this gorgeous skirt on. Ok that was a meant to be moment right there.. LOL . This is the kind of skirt that you can't help but dance in makes you feel like Tina Turner and shouldn't we all feel that way sometimes? I seriously felt like singing Proud Mary immediately but I was afraid they might call the cops on me because my voice is no where like Tina's .. trust and believe that ! I guess I will stick to the dancing in the fitting room.

Have you checked out the Eva Mendes line yet? What piece is your favorite ? Thank you for stopping by my fabulous Fashionista's !

My Favorite Fall Hues - Friday Favorites

On my last Friday Favorites post  I was  all about that skirt life in last weeks post  (here) . This week I wanted to show there is more to life skirts and dresses even though you can't tell from my daily #OTTD's . I decided to focus on all those rich colors that I am currently loving this Autumn season.

The trend that I am so loving right now is the longer sweaters or the dusters! You easily throw one on over a simple dress , jumpsuit or jeans an giving a simple look  a little extra fabulousness!

Long Wine Sweater -   This definitely is a color that I seem to gravitate towards during the fall months.  I  wore this on top of a dress for work and wore it with jeans to my son's football games as seen below such a versatile piece and look I am even coordinating with my not so baby boy !

Sweater - Kohl's

Perfect Wine Shooties- As you can see  I have a slight fascination with this wine color  Wine anything just makes me smile ... especially if it is a nice Merlot. LOL. These are so stunning in person and I am glad that I read the reviews and ordered 1/2 larger because they fit perfect. The great thing about these is that they come in so many colors!

Apt 9 Shooties - Kohl's

High- Low Peplum -Worthington -Jcpenney (plus

Not your everyday Peplum - When I spotted this top it was love love at first sight. I just love the high -low hem  and the reptile pattern that is embossed on this olive green top. This color is so prefect for these pre autumn days.

Another Fabulous Peplum- I know that I just had to include this colorful top with a color scheme so perfect for fall and it has it even has faux leather pieces .

Jumpsuit- H and M

Chic Jumpsuit on the Cheap- I literally had to take a second look when I saw the price tag on this jumpsuit. It said $20 and this is worth so much more. I fell in love with this the moment I saw it in the store it has such nice quality fabric that drapes on your body . I can't wait to style this baby !

My Glass of Wine dress times 3

Hey there my Fashionista friends how was your weekend ? I had a low key weekend which I do love and it is much needed after a long week of running around.   It's feels good to wake up and have a cup of  pumpkin coffee and getting an extra hour of chill time before I take on the day .

It has really started to cool down here in Indiana... I mean I was down right cold in the morning... so that makes me start to gravitate towards sweaters and darker colors. Fall is my favorite time of the year it always has been . I used to love back to school time as much as Christmas because that means " New Clothes " I remember browsing through the Kmart and Target adds growing up trying to figure out what new clothes I wanted this year.  Now my Mom was a single mother so there were times that I didn't get exactly what I wanted but that was ok. It forced me to practice  restyling   pieces to make my wardrobe appear bigger.

This is the 2nd week of "One piece times 3" segment.  If you missed the first one see (here). This week I decided to style this wine colored turtleneck dress from the new line at Jcpenney " Belle and Sky " . I just love the simplicity of this dress. Its so classic and versatile I paid $20 for this beauty thanks to their $10 off $25 coupons sales (Woot Woot) Which is such a bargain especially since I can get 3 plus looks out of it! I would definitely call that a major "SCORE" .

LOOK #1 - Casually Chic

I am so obsessed with this color for the fall it matches one of my all time favorite trend "Animal print"  I added my cheetah print hat that I got last year from Jcpenney as well ( imagine that LOL) and a animal print belt added a little sass with my JLO strap around the ankle bootie topped it off and last but not least  my trusty denim jacket and this chic look was born

Dress - Jcpenney (here), Bag - Jcpenney (sim), Hat - Jcpenney (sim)

LOOK # 2- Night On the Town

There is nothing like a simple sleek dress that is effortless yet sexy . I love that about this dress you can transform this dress into a va va voom very easily . I added my chain ankle pumps and large gold link chain ( a gift from lil sis.. thanks sis ) add a clutch which again is animal print.. Yes I am slightly obsessed with animal print... As my son always say... "Mom quite wearing animal print.. You are not a Kardashian "

Shoes - 6pm (sim), Clutch - Steinmart (sim)

LOOK #3- Taking it to the Office

Who doesn't love a sleeveless turtle neck to wear with their flared skirts for the fall. I thought this would be excellent as just that when I put my favorite faux leather Worthington skirt over it. . I keep the shoes simple with a sleek black pump and you guessed it some more animal print with the bag the bagged that I lucked up on at Jcpenney for under $10

.
So what do you think? Which is your favorite and how are you liking this segment ? Inquiring minds would like to know :)

As always I want to thank you for taking time out your day and stopping by !
